Welcome to our new Senior Manager of External Affairs for Tau Beta Sigma

The National Council and Board of Trustees of Tau Beta Sigma are proud to announce the selection of our new Senior Manager of External Affairs, Mrs. Dollie McDonald O’Neill.

No stranger to Tau Beta Sigma, Dollie McDonald O’Neill is a proud Life member of Tau Beta Sigma Sorority and an Honorary Member of Kappa Kappa Psi. She is a graduate of the University of Arkansas where she was initiated into the Psi Chapter of Tau Beta Sigma. While at the U of A, Dollie was member of the Razorback Marching Band & Color Guard, Concert Band, Basketball Pep Band and completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication/Public Relations. After graduating, Dollie served the sorority on the national level as National Chapter Field Representative from 2000-2002 and in all 4 elected National Council Offices from 2003-2011. She was then Elected to the Board of Trustees, serving as Capital Development Co-Chair, Vice-Chair and Chair of the Board of Trustees from 2011-2017. Dollie collaborated on several projects during her National Council service, including initiatives focused on growth, strategic planning, marketing, finances, communication, and improving joint relations. One of her favorite and proudest projects to date was Co-Chairing and planning all the Fundraising efforts for the Wava Memorial Gardens and launching the 13 Days of Wava!

Out in the field, Dollie’s career experiences span over 20 years in fundraising, management, recruiting, hiring and project development in non-profit organizations and corporate companies. Career Highlights include Traveling to 135 Chapters while serving as the Sorority’s 4th National Chapter Field Representative, Retail Management for Victoria Secret Stores, Recruiter for City Government, Recruiter for Department of Energy, Executive Director for the Non-Profit Philmont Staff Association and working 10 summers while living at Philmont Scout Ranch. The most important job of all is being a mom to two teenagers and being involved within her community. Other notable volunteer roles have been serving as Chair to local Head Start Policy Council and being elected to the School Board when residing in Cimarron, New Mexico. Most recently, Dollie is a new member of Board of Directors for KCM Cares, a non-profit in Maryland dedicated to the delivery of equitable, compassionate healthcare in the community including care for vulnerable populations.

Dollie’s career passions are fundraising and growth strategies to achieve goals for a greater impact of the organization’s mission and vision. Dollie’s Sorority fundraising highlights have been raising money for the Wava Memorial Gardens, Stanley G. Finck NIB Fund, and Tau Beta Sigma Giving Tuesday. Dollie’s Executive Director fundraising highlights include raising over $400K for the Philmont Wildfire Conservation fund, Philmont Staff Association Giving Tuesday and reaching the $1.5 million goal for the Building HOmE Capital Campaign for the Philmont Staff Association.

Dollie is a Life Member of the Psi Chapter, a charter member of the TBSAA and has numerous Honorary memberships in both Tau Beta Sigma and Kappa Kappa Psi, including being an honorary of her brother chapter, Lambda Chapter. Dollie now resides in Minnesota with her family and in her free time you can find her swimming or canoeing in a lake, volunteering for her kid’s sports concessions and cheering them on. Dollie also loves to travel with her family, and blog about her travel experiences.

The Senior Manager of External Affairs position is a newly created position for Tau Beta Sigma.  This position is designed to assist our elected national leadership in achieving strategic, long-term and annual goals. This position will focus on the long-term direction of Tau Beta Sigma’s fund development and provide aid in representing our organization at conventions, conferences and events.

Nicole Brooks, who has been on the HQ staff since 2018, most recently as the National Membership & Expansion Coordinator, finished up her last day as a member of the NHQ team today. Nicole has accepted a position at Auburn University and is headed to Alabama to pursue the next chapter of her life. We are very grateful for Nicole’s dedication and skill, and for her service to the continued success of our organizations. We wish her all the best in her future pursuits!

TJ Tooley, who served as National Membership & Education Coordinator at HQ for the past seven years, is completing his last day on our HQ staff. He and his family have relocated to Tennessee to pursue the next chapter of their lives. We are very grateful for TJ’s dedication and skill, and for service to the continued success of our organizations. We wish him all the best in his future pursuits!

Steve Nelson, who has served as the National Executive Director since 2014, completed his last day as a member of the NHQ team today. We are very grateful for Steve’s nearly 10 years of dedicated service to our organizations in this role, and his many years serving in other leadership positions in our organizations. We wish him all the best in his retirement!

ABOUT KAPPA KAPPA PSI & TAU BETA SIGMA

Kappa Kappa Psi Fraternity and Tau Beta Sigma Sorority are honorary service and leadership organizations that serve college and university band programs through service projects, fundraisers, social events, and other projects designed to promote the welfare of those programs.  As 501(c)3 non-profits, we operate to advance college and university bands.  The national headquarters is located in Stillwater, Oklahoma, roughly one hour from Oklahoma City and Tulsa.  Our organizations have a combined active membership of approximately 6,000 college and university students.

The Accounting Coordinator will work to support the organizations’ financial activities.  A complete job description is detailed below.

Position Overview

The Accounting Coordinator works with the Accounting Manager to execute all bookkeeping functions including payroll, accounts payable, preparation of financial statements, and all federal and state reports and tax payments.

Additional responsibilities include conducting research and financial reporting for National Executive Director and National Councils; tracking spending levels; assisting with all direct banking activities; and auditing invoices, prices, and royalty payments from jewelry and other contractors.

The Accounting Coordinator is a full-time salaried position located at the National Headquarters of Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma in Stillwater, Oklahoma.  Benefits include health insurance (with vision and dental) and a 401(k) Employee Saving Plan.

General Responsibilities

  • Posts and balances Accounts Receivable books, General Fund books, Trust Fund books, District Fund books, and National Convention books.
  • Assists with Investment Account deposits and transfers.
  • Works with auditor at the end of the fiscal year on annual audit or review.
  • Reports monthly and quarterly tax forms.
  • Prepares financial statements.
  • Processes payroll and payment of all bills.
  • Inventories consignment jewelry for district convention jewelry sales handled by staff or volunteer leadership.
  • Works with District Leadership regarding district funds and reimbursements.
  • Assists with preparation and management of national conventions.
  • Attends district and national conventions and assists with committees as requested.
  • Monitors credit card transactions related to National Headquarters operations and conventions.
  • Assists with monetary scholarship awards, matching grants, and similar programs of the national organizations.

Qualifications

  • Completed bachelor’s degree (preferably Business, Accounting, Finance or similar analytically skilled) or higher, or equivalent work experience (i.e. 2+ years of similar level work experience) is required.
  • Advanced certification(s) are desired.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Be able to organize, set priorities, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects consistently. Attention to detail is critical and must be demonstrated.
  • Able to communicate complex data clearly.
  • Familiarity with a wide range of financial transactions including Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
  • Exercise a clear and articulate approach to all types of communication media and problem solving with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel, and online file sharing systems.
  • Working experience in a Financial Software Product. (e.g. QuickBooks)
  • Commitment to the missions of Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma

Welcome to our New Publications and Media Manager

The National Headquarters is pleased to announce that Mr. Thomas Bradford has joined the staff as our Publications and Media Manager.

Mr. Bradford is a graduate of Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK and calls Tulsa home. With more than 25 years of graphic design and project management experience, he brings his talents to the National Headquarters and will assume the duties of publishing The Podium, managing our national websites, and creating the images and documents we need to represent our national programs and events.

Thomas is father to four grown children and Papa to four grandsons. He enjoys spending as much time outdoors as possible; running, camping, hiking, sailing, golfing, playing or refereeing soccer, working on a project, or just relaxing on the patio.

We are excited to have Thomas join our team. Look for him at a district or national convention this year.

Position Overview
The Publications & Media Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the National Headquarters’ digital and hardcopy design projects, websites, and social media presences.

The Publications & Media Manager is a full-time salaried position located at the National Headquarters of Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma in Stillwater, Oklahoma.  Benefits include health insurance (with vision and dental) and a 401(k) Employee Saving Plan.

General Responsibilities

  • The Publications & Media Manager works closely with the National Executive Director to design and edit the organizations’ official magazine, The Podium, which is published in hardcopy and digital versions twice a year.
  • Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma maintain several websites that support the missions and programs of the organizations.  The Publications & Media Manager is the principal designer and content manager for these sites; and, proposes updates and security upgrades as needed.
  • The Publications & Media Manager works with our communications teams to maintain an active and helpful social media presence on behalf of the national organizations.
  • Working with the National Headquarters staff and the national councils, the Publications and Media Manager designs all websites, social media and print publications related to the biennial national convention.
  • Other projects include developing and maintaining branding and style guides, logos, education curricula documents, business cards, letterhead, banners, awards, certificates, seals and charters.

Qualifications

  • Completed bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Experience or demonstrated knowledge of graphic design and/or publishing.
  • Be detailed and creative.
  • Be able to organize, set priorities, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects consistently.
  • Exercise a clear and articulate approach to all types of communication and problem solving.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the written word.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite required, more specifically using Adobe InDesign.
  • Expert Working knowledge of website design, particularly on the WordPress platform.
  • Experience and knowledge of fraternal organizations like Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma is desired.
  • Comfortable speaking on a telephone and interacting with the general public.
  • An Acceptable Background Check
  • A willingness to work in-person at our National Headquarters in Stillwater, Oklahoma

Introducing Our New National Events Coordinator!

The National Headquarters welcomes Lisa Croston as the National Events Coordinator!

Lisa is a life member from the Alpha Chapter of Tau Beta Sigma and has held many different offices and memberships, including Honorary Memberships in the National Chapters of both Tau Beta Sigma and Kappa Kappa Psi.

Lisa is very knowledgeable about both organizations and will be deeply involved in the planning and execution of both national and district events, including the 2021 district conventions and the 2021 National Convention next July.

We are looking forward to adding Lisa’s wealth of knowledge to the NHQ staff, starting in September. Welcome Lisa!
