Steve Nelson, National Executive Director, now in his 8th year at the National Headquarters, has a long affiliation with Kappa Kappa Psi/Tau Beta Sigma. Steve graduated from Oklahoma State in 1988 with a BS in Geology and an MS in Computing and Information Sciences. After careers in information technology and campus ministry, he also served as a missionary teacher at the St. Fidelis College Seminary in Madang, Papua New Guinea. Born in Hobbs, New Mexico, Steve has lived most of his life in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but has also spent time in Chicago and Kansas City.
As a band musician, he played through high school, college and graduate school. At Oklahoma State, Steve was a member of the Cowboy Marching Band and the Symphonic Wind Ensemble. He was also chosen as a member of the New Mexico All-State Symphonic Band, the Young Tulsans, and several of National Intercollegiate Bands. Currently, he is a member of the Stillwater Community Band.
Steve was initiated into the Alpha Chapter of KKPsi and has served as both a national officer and a district governor. He holds honorary memberships in Tau Beta Sigma, the National Chapters of both Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma, and the Midwest District of Kappa Kappa Psi. Steve is also a recipient of the A. Frank Martin Award.
As the National Executive Director, Steve manages the business affairs of the Fraternity and Sorority and oversees the professional management of the organizations. He also insures that the National Headquarters provides the necessary services to the membership in a professional, timely manner. Other responsibilities include representing and promoting the Fraternity and Sorority at National Conventions and universities across the nation, maintaining direct contact with university band directors on Fraternity and Sorority issues, and serving as the meeting planner for all National Conventions and National Council Meetings.
Debbie Morris, National Membership Services Coordinator, is on her second tour-of-duty with National Headquarters. The Membership Services Coordinator maintains data base records for all members as well as National and District Officers and Honorary Members. Debbie is responsible for accounts receivable (dues, fees, proceeds from supply sales, etc.), and creates the midyear and final year Chapter Status Reports and District Allocation report. She prepares and produces all membership cards, shingles and distributes member pins. She came back after a three year hiatus of being a stay-at-home, mow the yard, tend the animals – wife, mother and grandmother. She originally started work in January 2001. She and her husband, Mark live on a farm. She has two daughters, Stacy and Jody, and two grandchildren and a granddog and several other animals an the Morris Farm.
Aaron Moore, National Database & Membership System Coordinator, is a 1998/2004 graduate of Northeastern State University, where he earned Bachelor’s Degrees in History Education and Telecommunications Management. During his time at NSU, Aaron was a member of the NSU Jazz Ensembles. He was initiated into the Alpha Rho chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi in the spring of 1999, and became a Life Member that fall. Aaron returned to Stillwater in 2007, and completed a Master’s Degree in Public/Applied History with an emphasis in Museum Studies at Oklahoma State University in 2010. Since 2008, he has served in various roles at the National Headquarters of Kappa Kappa Psi & Tau Beta Sigma, currently holding the title Database & Membership System Coordinator. In addition to being a Life Member of the Alpha Rho Chapter, Aaron is also an honorary member of the Alpha Chapters, National Chapters and Southwest Districts of Kappa Kappa Psi, the Omega Chapter and North Central District of Tau Beta Sigma, and the Northeast and Western Districts of Kappa Kappa Psi. In 2009, Aaron joined the small number of people to be Life Members of both Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma.
TJ Tooley, National Membership & Education Coordinator, is a 2015 graduate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha where he graduated with his B.S. in Criminology and Criminal Justice and a minor in Sociology. TJ was a member of the UNO Marching Mavericks where he served as a section leader and was a founding member of The Herd entertainment drum line. He was a spring 2013 initiate of the Kappa Iota Chapter where he served as a chapter officer. TJ joined the National Headquarters Staff in January 2017. TJ is a Life Member of Tau Beta Sigma and Kappa Kappa Psi and is an Honorary Member of the National Chapter of the Fraternity and the Sorority.
As the National Membership and Expansion Coordinator, some of his responsibilities include, sitting on the Overture and The Road to Wisdom National Curriculum Committees, working with Petitioning Groups from application through installation, working with chapters on discipline status, performing investigations, reviewing chapter constitutions, and maintaining chapter correspondence files.
Nicole Brooks, Kappa Kappa Psi National Chapter Support Coordinator, is a 2014 graduate of the University of Central Florida where she earned a B.A. in History with a minor in Art History. While at UCF, she was a member of the Marching Knights and Jammin’ Knights ensembles as a sousaphone player. Nicole was initiated into the Eta Sigma chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi in November of 2011 and is also an honorary member of Tau Beta Sigma. In 2017, she earned an M.A. in Religious Studies from the American University of Rome. Nicole joined the Headquarters Staff in June of 2018 as a Chapter Field Representative. Throughout her three-year term as CFR, she conducted over one-hundred chapter visits and assisted chapters in all aspects of their operations. Nicole began her new role as Chapter Support Coordinator in August of 2021.As CSC, she will continue to work with chapters to improve their chapter operations, assist the Chapter Field Representatives, and serve as a member of the Chapter Operations Task Force.
Lisa Croston, National Events Coordinator joined the Headquarters staff in 2020 but has served the organizations for over 35 years. Lisa is a 1997 graduate of Oklahoma State University and was initiated into the Alpha Chapter of Tau Beta Sigma in 1985. Lisa is a Life Member of both Tau Beta Sigma and Kappa Kappa Psi as well as an Honorary Member of the Southwest District, Southeast District, Midwest District and the National Chapter of Tau Beta Sigma and an Honorary member of the Alpha, Southwest District and National Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi. Lisa is also the current Sponsor of the Alpha Chapter of Tau Beta Sigma.
Lisa is currently the National Historian for Tau Beta Sigma and has served in many capacities on the chapter, district and national levels of Tau Beta Sigma. She is the recipient of the Wava Banes Turner, Distinguished Service, Stanley G Finck Memorial and Sue Robash Carr Distinguished Alumni Awards. Lisa is also a proud member of both the Tau Beta Sigma and Kappa Kappa Psi Alumni Associations.
Lisa was a member of the Cowboy Marching Band, OSU Spirit Band and both the Concert and Symphonic Bands while at Oklahoma State University. She continues to play with the Stillwater Community Band and is a member of the OSU Band Alumni Chapter. She is very proud of her son, Jared, who currently plays the Tuba in the Cowboy Marching Band and was a Spring 2020 initiate in the Alpha Chapter of Tau Beta Sigma!
As the National Events Coordinator, Lisa will be managing the registration and logistics of all the district conventions, national conventions and leadership meetings for the Fraternity and Sorority.
Jake January, Kappa Kappa Psi Chapter Field Representative, is a 2021 graduate of Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK. He graduated with a B.S. in Aerospace Administration and Operations with a dual concentrations in Aerospace Security and Airline Management. Jake was a member of the Cowboy Marching Band, Spirit Band, and Concert bands as a tenor saxophone player. He was initiated into the Alpha chapter in the spring of 2018. As an active member, Jake held the positions of Vice President for Programs, and President. Jake also served as the Administrative Assistant for the National Headquarters of Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma.
Kennedy Struck, Kappa Kappa Psi National Chapter Field Representative, is an alumnus of the Mu Nu Chapter and graduated from Christopher Newport University in 2020, double majoring in Psychology and Sociology. During his time as an active brother, he served as Vice President of Brotherhood and Chapter President. He was a part of the Marching Captains, Jazz Band, University Band and other various small ensembles. His favorite thing about Kappa Kappa Psi is the brotherhood aspect, getting to know new people and feeling connected to everyone through our fraternal values and the lessons learned through the ritual.
