This summer, Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma chapters across the country answered the call to support our partnership with NMDP by bringing its lifesaving mission directly to their college and university bands. The results are already making an incredible impact.
From August 1 through September 23, 25 participating bands helped inspire 1,304 people to join the NMDP Registry — an average of 52 new registry members per participating band.
Each new registry member represents another opportunity to provide a potentially lifesaving blood stem cell or marrow transplant to a patient in need. We are grateful to the Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma chapters, band programs, students, and NMDP representatives who helped make these events possible.
The impact has reached bands across the country. The University of Oregon Marching Band led the way with 145 new registry members, followed by the UCLA Bruin Marching Band with 126, Fresno State Bulldog Marching Band with 117, Iowa State University Cyclone Marching Band with 102, and The University of Texas at El Paso Miners Marching Band with 100.
And this is only the beginning. We look forward to continuing to build on the momentum of this partnership and seeing the difference our chapters and band communities can make together.
