Hello!

Welcome to the WDJAA Website!

Most people wander onto this webpage with the same basic question: "What does WDJAA do?" Some of the surfers are current Active members of KKY or TBS, some are Alumni of one of the organizations, and most ponder the benefits of joining this group. I hope that I can shed some light on these questions and preconceived notions you might have regarding WDJAA.

We are alumni. But what does that mean? What should we do now? To give you an overview of the goings-on of our organization, I have used an acronym of ALUMNI. After reading this, I hope you have a better understanding of our goals.

A: A is for Assistance. One of our main purposes is to help current Active chapters and members with projects or attaining materials or funds. We aim to provide help, be it with manpower, advice, or money, to assure that others can reach their goals. Collectively, our Alumni have been part of many service, social, and random projects and are ready to help others.

L: L is for Labor. While we strive to help Actives with their projects and goals, we also have our independent activities we are working on. We have philanthropy projects in the works as well as social events. Also, we hope to inspire other alumni members to initiate their own tasks to help Actives, their community, or music.

U: U is for Union. At some point we were all a Brother or Sister. Or both! J That feeling of camaraderie and Brotherhood/Sisterhood is an indescribable thing. We want to preserve those feelings as Alumni and maintain a haven where we still have that. There are friends we made as Actives who were at other Chapters. We used to look forward to Convention because we would get to see those friends. As Alumni, we can still have that. If we stay in touch through WDJAA, we can keep tabs on those who touched our lives.

M: M is for Music. Yes, we all were in a band of some sort in our collegiate careers. But after graduation, many of us do not continue in an ensemble. As members of WDJAA, we can stay involved in music at some level. We also promote individual involvement in music, such as participation in community bands, assistance in local school music programs, or aiding groups who raise funds for music programs. Music is what holds us all together in the bond and it is our job to continue to cultivate it.

N: N is for Networking. As we graduate, we have to find jobs. Or move to a new place. Or change career paths. And in this vast collection of people in our alumni connections, there should be someone who can help you out. We want to help people connect with others who are already established in their fields, living in random geographic locations, or experiencing similar life events. We all know the phrase "can't you help a brother out?" And we want to help you.

I: I is for Involvement. After being an Active for three years, three semesters, or three decades, we all become Alumni forever. FOREVER. We would like to help members stay up to date with the activities of their Chapter, old friends, and projects happening at the National level. If you were Super-Active or Barely-Active, you still become an Alumni. And you have the option of keeping up to date with it all. And we can help.

First of all, I personally thank you in your interest in WDJAA. Reading this letter shows that you are at least slightly interested in what we do. I hope that after you read this, you continue to look at the Officer Corners for each WDJAA officer. This will give you further insight into the WDJAA community.

The current officers are:
President: Dawn Farmer
VP Membership: Patrick Brown
VP Projects: Tanya Marsh
Secretary: Shannon Scannell
Treasurer: POSITION OPEN

These links will provide you with further information that you will find useful.

Thank you again for interest in WDJAA. Please feel free to contact any officer with any questions you may have. In closing, I would like to urge all Alumni members to stay involved with Music at some level. As a music educator, I get to see the impact music makes on our youth. I teach fourth and fifth grade band and I could not ask for a more important and rewarding job. Music changes lives everyday. It changed mine, and I am sure it has changed yours.

In the bond,
Dawn

Congratulations

So now what? Yes, there is life after graduation! And yes, there is life after being an active member of Kappa Kappa Psi or Tau Beta Sigma.

The Western District Joint Alumni Association, formed at the 1996 Western District Convention, is ready for you to become a member!! Look-- If you cannot become a member at this time and want some more information about the Western District, WDJAA, other local alumni associations, or western chapters click here.

And just how do you become a member? It's easy!!!

Whether you are a current WDJAA member and need to renew, would like to be a new WDJAA member, or currently an NAA member then you can use this ONE form in PDF format.  Also, to help YOU out when you send in your WDJAA Membership Form with dues - the total amount includes your NAA dues as well. Then WDJAA will process your membership form for both organizations! This way you only have to use one form and write one check!

That's it!! It's that simple!!!

Now you may be asking yourself what does membership entitle you to, so check out the FAQ page for some answers to your questions!
