Confused? You probably have many questions about membership into WDJAA, NAA, and/or Life Membership - feel free to check out the questions below to get any answers you may still be seeking! WHAT DOES MEMBERSHIP IN WDJAA ENTITLE ME TO? Well, you don't get a 5 piece set of Ginsu knives, and you don't get a free mini boombox. What you do get is a chance to continue your involvement in Kappa Kappa Psi/Tau Beta Sigma as a professional member of your community. Many of us have spent years actively involved in our organizations, and could not see ending that involvement just because we have graduated. WHAT ARE REQUIRED OF MEMBERS? Currently, WDJAA members are asked to hold a meeting at least once a year. This typically takes place at the Western District Convention. This gives Active Alumni members a chance to discuss Alumni goals, as well as meet with graduating seniors. In addition, check out the Activities web page for a list of events. The ones that have links will have a name to contact for more information and questions about how to help. WHAT ABOUT THE NATIONAL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION? In order to be a member of any local Alumni Association, you must first be a member of the National Alumni Association. Your WDJAA dues may be broken down as follows: $25 National Alumni Association Dues WDJAA automatically submits $25 for you to be a member of the National Alumni Association. Nothing needs to be done by you. See instructions (download the WDJAA membership form in PDF format) on becoming a member. WHAT ARE THE OTHER ALUMNI MEMBERSHIP OPTIONS? Life Membership – Onetime fee to be in the NAA for one year, discounts offered by National Headquarters, eligible for appointments by National Council, and able to sit as a delegate at conventions. NAA (National Alumni Association) Member – This is a national organization, which has an annual fee that is used for insurance, administrative costs, district allotments, and national programs. Within this framework are local associations like WDJAA. Alumni – Those that have completed their education or who have terminated their affiliation with their college or university. There is no cost for this position, however you are not covered by National Headquarters. This is a non-voting position and can help out any place at anytime.WHAT IF I WANT TO BE A LIFE MEMBER INSTEAD? Life Membership entitles you to certain privileges. A Life Member is an alumnus of Kappa Kappa Psi or Tau Beta Sigma that has paid a one time life membership fee of $250. This fee includes a membership card, shingle, pin, one year's membership to NAA, and a subscription to News Notes. As a Life Member, you may sit as the delegate for your Chapter at the National Convention, if there is no Active Member from that Chapter present. Life Members may also vote on the Chapter level and participate in ritual. Life membership does not entitle you to participate in the local alumni association. A Life Member must pay dues to the National Alumni Association in order to participate in Alumni activities. WHO DO I TALK TO IF I HAVE ANY QUESTIONS? Enclosed is a list of Officers of WDJAA. Any of these members should be able to either answer your questions, or find the answers to your questions. Please remember that this is a fairly new organization, and many of our goals and purposes are still being formulated.
