Ed Elsea
Trustee
EDWARD ELSEA
(Midwest District Honorary) received his Bachelor
of Science degree in Music Education from the
University of Missouri in 1994. While at the
University of Missouri, Ed was an active member
of the Eta Upsilon Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi. He
is currently an active member and member of the
Board of the Marching Mizzou Alumni Band
Association.
While a
student, Ed was the Midwest District
Member-At-Large and then President. While in
these positions, he worked with his counterpart
in Tau Beta Sigma to commission a work for
college bands on behalf of the District
Organizations, visited most all campuses in the
district, and sought to keep both organizations
working to improve college bands. Because of
this, the Midwest District, led by President
Leslie Ain-McClure, asked him to become an
honorary member of Tau Beta Sigma. At the
National Convention in Orlando, Florida, on
August 5, 1995, he became an honorary member of
the sorority.
Ed has
attended many district conventions and all
National Conventions since 1990. After the 2000
National Convention in St. Louis, President Karon
Miller-Hammond asked him if he would like to be
considered for the Midwest District Counselor
position which had opened up. So, from 2000-2003,
Ed served the Midwest District of Tau Beta Sigma
as their counselor. In 2003, Ed was elected to
his first term on the Tau Beta Sigma National
Board of Trustees.
Since
graduation from the University of Missouri, Ed
has worked professionally as a band director and
clinician around the state of Missouri. In 2001,
he finished his Master of Arts degree from
Southeast Missouri State University in
Educational Leadership. Since that time, he has
been employed by the Santa Fe Public School
System as the Elementary Principal in Waverly,
Missouri.
Ed is an
active in both his community and profession. He
is West Central District Vice President for the
Missouri Association of Elementary School
Principals, Secretary for the Waverly Chamber of
Commerce, Recorder for the Knights of Columbus,
and Chair for the annual Waverly Jay-Cees Apple
Jubilee Parades.
He
continues playing his flute with the Marshall
community band and Marshall Philharmonic
Orchestra. He spends his spare fall weekends as a
season ticket holder for Mizzou Football,
actually going for the half-time show!
