1. National Convention Hotel Room Block FULL! Overflow is available!
by Mike McMurtrey, National Publications Manager

As of Friday, May 30, the block of rooms at the Waterside Marriott has been filled. Unless there is attrition due to cancellations, there will be no more rooms available at the Waterside Marriott at the convention rate. IF YOU DON'T NEED ALL YOUR ROOMS, PLEASE CALL THE MARRIOTT AND LET THEM KNOW NOW! Your action may allow another chapter make it into the Convention Hotel!

However, our contacts at the Marriott have arranged with a terrific hotel, the Renaissance Portsmouth, to honor the convention rate. The Renaissance Portsmouth is located just across the river from the Marriott Waterside. You get to take a water shuttle that runs between the two that makes it convenient for anyone staying at the Renaissance to get to all convention events at the Marriott.

You can make your reservation by calling the Renaissance Portsmouth directly at 1-757-673-3000, or by calling the Marriott reservation center at 1-800-228-9290. Request a room in the 'Kappa Kappa Psi block,' or reference Market Code 'KKN'.

On Behalf of the National Council of Kappa Kappa Psi, it my pleasure and honor to announce the installation of the Lambda Gamma Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi, Chapter number 267, at Florida International University in Miami Florida. The installation ceremony occurred on the FIU campus on Saturday with Scott Stowell, Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees, several Brothers from the University of Florida, University of Central Florida and Florida A&M, including SED President, Sam Rowley, and SED Vice President, Jarrell Thomas in attendance. There were also several Sisters from the SED in attendance at the installation ceremony, including SED TBS President, Jenni Hess.

Thanks to the Alpha Eta Chapter for their work as the sponsoring chapter, Chris Haughee for his work as the advising person and the former colonists for their diligent work throughout the colonization process.

3. Committee Chairs/Members: Bring your Notebooks!

We were not able to find a chapter to provide computer services for the National Convention this summer. Consequently, we will only have two PC systems set up for operation in the Headquarters Office. We learned from the 2001 National Convention in Corpus Christi that the majority of committees had access to personal laptops or notebooks, and it will be important for all committee chairs to secure a laptop for each committee. Prepare your committee reports on the laptop and bring disk to the Headquarters. The HQ lab will be available during business hours for printing purposes only. We will have a copier in the office as well for your use. NOTE: All committee reports should be prepared in a Word format for PC. No MACs will be available in the HQ Office.
