TBSigma Offers Twitter/Forum Contest for Convention Registration Waivers
by Nicole Burdick, National Vice President for Communication and Recognition
Sisters,
Are you going to National Convention? As college students, you are always looking at ways to save money. After being a college/graduate student for 9 years, I completely understand. Additionally, going to district and national conventions, while being an amazing experience, they can be costly. We want to help! It's simple - if you sign up to use our newest communication tools you can win free convention registration! Here is how this works:
1) Sign up and use our communication tools!
a. Follow @TauBetaSigma on Twitter (www.twitter.com)
b. Sign up for the Tau Beta Sigma Forums (www.tbsigma.org/forum)
c. Sign up for the Tau Beta Sigma members-only listserve
i. Email Peter Murray at kkytbs-editor@mail.kkytbs.org and request to be added to the TBS members-only listerve (TBSIGMA-L). Include your full name, chapter/school, and when you were initiated.
2) Be on the lookout for trivia questions (one per district) to be posted on these 3 communication outlets
a. District Conventions (1 per district) between February 1st and February 28th
b. National Convention - 2 trivia questions will be posted between April 1st and April 30th, 2011 (you must answer both questions correctly).
3) To be entered into the contest email the correct answer to the trivia question as well as your full name, your chapter, and your initiation date (you must be an active member of your district) to nicoleburdick@tbsigma.org. You will have exactly 24 hours to respond! A winner will be selected from all the correct responses.
That's it! Be sure to sign up for Twitter, the TBS members-only listerve, and the TBS members-only forums and keep your eyes posted for those trivia questions! If you have any questions about this contest, please contact nicoleburdick@tbsigma.org.

Tau Beta Sigma Adopts New Vision Statement
by Dollie O'Neill, National President
To the Sisters and Brothers of Tau Beta Sigma,
The 2009-2011 National Council held a strategic planning session, the first since the one held in 1996-1997, and one of the results from this session is a NEW Vision Statement, one which reflects the Vision of our organization for the next 10 years. Tau Beta Sigma adopted its first Vision Statement in 2000having not had a Vision statement prior to then. This New Vision Statement shows the direction of Tau Beta Sigma and where we are heading over the next decade.
NEW 2020 Tau Beta Sigma Vision
Tau Beta Sigma is a highly respected pre-eminent music organization comprised of over 160 collegiate chapters and more than 3,800 collegiate members with a balanced representation of women and men. Strong leadership thrives throughout our organization and we have a solid financial foundation. We cultivate and sponsor a variety of music education programs for our diverse membership and work closely with collegiate band directors. Our alumni association is an integral part of Tau Beta Sigma, promoting diversity efforts, social networking and assisting members in enhancing their professional leadership and employment possibilities after graduation from college. We are connected with music in the community which includes supporting music education at all academic levels. |
