Programs Committee - Separates
Committee Charges:
Award to recognize contributions to the sorority or to the bands for Non TBS members
Last years committee report brought this up and we found that a few chapters already do something of this sort. They honor their brothers by showing their appreciation for their hard work by giving them a rose and a card with one of the 8 and 5 th at best describes their contributions. Another chapter formally votes to bestow an award to those who have contributed to the band such as equipment staff or Alpha Sigma Iota members. We would like to keep this a general award so that each chapter may i nclude something traditionally important to them.
Sisters Chapters
We discussed what our current chapters do as sister chapters. Namely, we set up pen pals and attend degrees. These generally haven’t been a complete success. We thought that since the sister chapter program is relatively new we would like to kee p evaluating it. We had some suggestions that since we are sisters we should write to our sister chapters on holidays and their birthday because on holidays you are reminded of your family including your sisters.
The permanent chapters, which are assigned according to geographical location, are supposed to be reassigned on odd year district conventions. The new permanent sister chapters are:
Lambda and Zeta Epsilon
Gamma Rho and Alpha Xi
Gamma Mu and Epsilon Iota
Chi and Alpha Delta
Theta and Delta Epsilon and Eta Eta
Zeta Rho and Eta Zeta
Rho and Epsilon
Beta Sigma and Zeta Lambda and Zeta Gamma
The rotating sister chapters are reassigned randomly at even year District Conventions and they are still:
Epsilon and Alpha Delta
Theta and Rho
Chi and Zeta Epsilon
Alpha Xi and Gamma Rho
Beta Sigma and Lambda
Epsilon Iota and Zeta Gamma
Zeta Alpha and Eta Eta
Delta Epsilon and Gamma Mu
Eta Zeta and Zeta Rho
Contact with Other Bands at Games
One of the purposes of Tau Beta Sigma is to encourage a close relationship between collegiate bands. Meeting the other band at games should be as regular as athletic teams shaking hands after a game. Unfortunately somewhere along the line this tr adition has not remained. We must lead the way in as members of Tau Beta Sigma to make a difference. We must approach our band directors to find out when bands will visit and explain why it is important to meet the other bands. Then volunteer to serve y our band by hosting the other band before or after the game. We, the programs committee, challenge you each to go home and speak to your director about meeting the other band.
I would like to thank Amy for being my secretary, Holly for her resourcefulness, and all who showed up and gave their opinions.
Respectfully submitted,
Michelle DeBuck, chair Lambda
Kate Byram, Epsilon
Kay Cudney, Gamma Mu
Sara Shilling, Chi
Holly Kennedy, Eta Zeta
Kate Schindel, Beta Sigma
