Convention Update
Leadership Meeting:
- January 21-23, 2000, will feature guest speaker, Dr. Terry Frenz.
- 1 big room and 5 smaller rooms requested.
- AV equipment needed- projectors and chalkboards
- Saturday night dinner or event should be planned.
- District council meeting will be held on Friday.
- The officers should focus more on promoting leadership and make it
less block-like.
- We may extend this to a two-day event.
Block Meetings
- Ideas for workshops will be discussed in December.
- University of Michigan- Feb 12 or Feb 4
- Miami University- Feb 19
- University of Akron- Jan 29
- A block checklist is in the works.
Commissioning Project
- We decided that $6500 should be the goal of the fundraising
- Hats- Bob will talk to MSU about ordering more
- Toothpick holders- still trying to sell them
- T-shirts- decided to order more shirts of the same design from last
year, but we should change the color
- More expenses were discussed about mailings and housing the composer
at convention, etc.
- Reviewed addendum to the convention bid checklist
- Commissioning project committee may need a room at leadership to
discuss
- Perhaps we could have a small forum at opening session of blocks for
questions
- Committee should be closed at convention
Officer Reports
Vice President for Colonization and Membership:
- Planning a district history book that will include: list of officers,
convention hosts, Kadenza Editors, Chapters and their date of
installation (also school and advising chapter), current chapter status,
current sponsor, Governors, National Conventions, National Officers,
Mascots, and district/national award winners.
Vice President for Programs / Vice President for Special Projects:
- Discussion of various mascots
- SPAM- Butler sent in their info, but not EIU.
- Idea to have a council display at convention
- District Scrapbook- will include all the places we visited
- OSU owns Kadenza.com, we might want to update the budget to keep the
name.
Secretary/Treasurer:
- NIB Winners are Sara Carlino and Matt Drase. They will be taken care
of with $100 each.
- There are 69 toothpick holders left for $7 a piece
- We should get about 100 hats of each for block/convention
- Web site- new calendar thanks to Randell. We really need the NCD
policy handbook updated ASAP. There exists a phone/address list.
Guideline for Convention and Kadenza should be posted. Deadlines should
be updated on the policy handbook and web calendar. Internal links should
be included in policy handbook. Are we still going to create a district
officer site?
