Gamma Rho

1999 Chapter Report

In the last year one of our goals in Gamma Rho have been moving more toward a joint group with Kappa Kappa Psi. Several of the activities mentioned in this report include our brother chapter of Delta Upsilon. Part of this process is recognizing the p ride of the peninsula, Eastern Michigan University.

E-Is for Eleven new candidates which includes our first male sister.

A-Is for Apples that we purchase and passed out at each home football game.

S-Is for Sisterhood, which we have done a photo album, movie and dinner night, and a study night.

T-Is for Tuesday Bake Sales.

E-Is for Equipment that includes a video projector and drum/conductor stand for the Basketball Pep band.

R-Is for Robotics concession stand fundraiser. Other fundraisers that we have done are Basketball concession stands, T-shirt sales, Valentine grams, a sucker sale, and ice cold neckties for bandcamps.

N-Is for NIB auditions, our service committee is providing a tape and professional recording for anyone interested for NIB or other auditions.

P-Is for our first annual Preband camp which we gave a tour of the campus, uniform checkouts, a picnic and a surprise 15 minute rehearsal. This activey was presented and carried out by the Sister of Gamma Rho.

R-Is for Recruitment at Eastern Fast track which is a Freshman Orientation Program.

I-Is for Improvement of the membership process. We started off our semester by completely revamping our membership education manual and process. Our candidate process had a late start but it has been for the better and doing very well.

D-Is for the new drum cases that we purchased for the music department.

E-Is for extending service to the community such as performing and proving the opportunity for Girl Scout to earn their music badges. We also visited St. Joseph Hospital to carol and pass out gifts to children in the pediatrics unit.

We have done many other activities, some of which include: our annual March-a-than which brought in approximately five thousand dollars as well as sharing the gift of music and the aesthetic qualities it can project to others within the community, our scholarships, Halloween dance, band camp activities, housing members of the marching band during band camp, assisting freshman move-in at the first day of band camp, ushering at several concerts. We also hosted our annual Chamber Ensemble Recital, which w as a great success that includes the whole music department. Gamma Rho is always striving to see an ideal, seize upon it, and we follow it wherever it leads us in Tau Beta Sigma.

Respectfully Submitted,
