Greeting from Epsilon Iota here in lovely old Akron, Ohio. This has been
a very productive and challenging year for the EI sisters, finding
creative service projects and low-cost fundraisers. To begin the year,
our treasurer unexpectedly left the sorority, leaving our accounts a mess
and causing us to lose hundreds of dollars. Despite this setback, we
were serving the bands from the very beginning of band camp, when we
helped the incoming freshman move into their dorms. We learned a very
important lesson doing this -
If it doesn't fit in a UHawl, it doesn't fit in a dorm room :)
During band camp, we jointly sponsored many band activities with the
brothers of Zeta Omicron. In fact, a new service project we started this
year was a uniform dry-cleaning service. We never realized how
ugly-looking uniforms can get, especially after one of our many rain
games!
During this time, we were also able to recruit a wonderful candidate
class that doubled our active membership! They created a new fundraiser
dollars by marching for 4 hours straight! We were so proud :)
Another exciting addition to our chapter was the purchase of Epsilon Iota
Tau Beta Sigma jackets. These have helped to give us a new spirit and
image around the music building. This spring, we are in the process of
running a recycling service project. So far, it has been great and has
helped to keep the music building clean :)
Starting in March, we have began a "Woman of the Month in Music"
bulletin board in our music building, where each month we showcase an
outstanding female faculty member and her service to the bands. We hope
that many other chapters will be able to begin this program, for we feel
it helps to exemplify what we are all about.
Respectfully Submitted,
The sisters of Epsilon Iota
ITB,
Aaron Orians
