Dear Sisters and Brothers of the NCD,
Greetings from Butler University! The sisters of Epsilon have been busy over the past year. After recovering from hosting District Convention, we ended the school year with our annual all-night bowl-a-thon. After a relaxing summer, we started off th e school year with an MC class of 7 enthusiastic young women. We held our annual sleepover to introduce them to our chapter, and everyone had a great time. The sisters of Epsilon volunteered at the BOA regional championships as support staff during fall , as well as our normal marching band service activities. Together with our brothers of Alpha Beta, we went on our annual membership retreat in November where we held Second Degree and our joint brotherhood-sisterhood ceremony. We also participated in a team’s course to get to know ourselves and our chapter better. The MC class cleaned and stored the marching band uniforms as their class service project. After Third Degree in December, all the actives, new and old, went to Buca di Beppo’s for dinner wh ere we enjoyed great Italian food and cool waiters.
This spring Epsilon has made some internal changes, including the election of a service chair and the addition of three committees: service, fundraising and social, which is something new for us. In addition to this, we have worked on several service projects so far this spring. We organized and hosted the Butler University All Star Band and Orchestra Weekend in February as well as host receptions for concerts, work in the music library, and clean the instrument storage room. Recently, Epsilon compl eted a project, which involved logging all of the old marching band films into the band computer in preparation for preserving these films into a video compilation of the history of the Butler Marching Band.
We are looking forward to celebrating another year of service and to celebrating the 80th year of the Butler Bands.
Respectfully Submitted,
Kate Byram
