Gamma Rho
2000 Chapter Report
During the past year Gamma Rho has been trying to do less better. We are trying to do fewer projects but put more efforts into them to try and serve the bands better. This past winter we tried our new candidate process where it went through both semesters. Things went well and we had six eager new actives go through. We decided to tell you about the things we are doing in our own special way.
G-is for goodies sold at our Tuesday Bake Sale to help raise money for scholarships, Band trips, restoring Pease pipes and furnishing furniture for the student commons.
M-is
for the mops that we use to clean the band and orchestra rooms.
M-is for the Marathon that is going on right now, their playing 25
hours to raise $50,000. Half of which is going to Habitat for Humanity, and the
other half is going to the EMU Marching Band.
A-is for Activities such as
dances, pizza parties, and grass parties.
R-is for retention, we are
constantly trying to improve quality rather than quantity.
H-is for housing Marching
Band members during Band Camp, and high school students for Senior Marcher
Weekend.
O-you wish you were a Gamma
Rho sister,
That is what you’d truly like to be.
For if you were a Gamma Rho sister,
Everyone would be in love with you!!
Gamma Rho is always striving for the highest. We are constantly looking for new ways of serving the bands. This year we have brought back The Band Marathon to try and raise money not only for the bands but also for the community. We also keep our traditional ways of serving the bands going. For example, activities during band camp and our annual Chamber Ensemble concert. As our semester is coming to an end at Eastern Michigan University, Gamma Rho is looking ahead at the year to come planning for new ways to serve the bands.
