Convention Site Committee Report

A big "Hi and Hello" from the Convention Site Committee. The Convention Site would like to thank Jen DiBenedetto and Mike "Pookie" Osborn for drawing from their many,

many, many convention experiences during our selection process. We would also like to thank the current Convention Hosts for giving us insight as to the convention operations.

The Committee was charged with reviewing the bids for the 2000 Convention and selecting a slate. The committee developed a set of questions for each of the three schools' representatives. Each school was given a fifteen-minute block in which the committee clarified the schools' respective bids. The committee then discussed the strengths and weaknesses of each school as a host for the 2000 Convention. Although it was a difficult decision, we believe that we picked the best-suited school to host next year's Convention. Finally, we proposed recommendations for the slated school to consider the following:

  1. Due to already scheduled District Conventions elsewhere in the nation, we feel that your alternate date,__________, would be best suited for the NCD. This will ensure National Council participation.
  2. A website, similar to that of the University of Toledo, should be created. We suggest that this website include online registration, dates, a map and directions to all events. We strongly suggest that this site be updated as changes occur.
  3. At least 12 computers be made available for the entire Convention.
  4. The Convention Headquarters be staffed 24 hours.
  5. That a survey be conducted throughout the District to find the best weekend available for the Leadership Conference. This is to ensure maximum participation at the Conference.
  6. The host-school reserve a minimum of 200 rooms at the hotel.

We recommend to the District Councils charge the 2000 Convention Site Committee with identical charges.

The 1999 Convention Site Committee has seen fit to slate:
