ANY OTHER SIGNIFICANT EVENTS:
This past November, Upsilon expanded
its’ service to the surrounding community by donating $450 to the Deer Park
High School Band. This band was in the
process of raising several thousand dollars towards its’ first trip, the
destination of which was Florida. A
brother of Upsilon, an alumnus of Deer Park, brought the band’s situation
before the chapter and the decision was made to donate the funds from the
annual Octoberfest fundraiser.
Needless to say, the financing came together and the trip was a
success.
IMPORTANT UPCOMING DATES:
Cincinnati
Band Leadership Clinic, May 12
UC Band
Spring Concert, May 24
Is there anyone or anything you want the Committee on
Credentials & Resolutions to recognize?
(Include Chapter Anniversaries)
The Upsilon Chapter would like to acknowledge our
newest Honorary Members, Dr. Terren L. Frenz, Mr. Tom Acheson, and Ms. Julie
Benken. We would also like to recognize
“Dr. Tim” Lautzenheiser, a close friend of the UC Bearcat Bands as well as
Upsilon. “Dr. Tim” is a candidate for
this year’s Distinguished Service to Music Medal and was nominated by
Upsilon. We wish him the best of
luck.
In one paragraph (not to exceed one (1) minute when
read) discuss/address one significant event or occurrence which has had an
impact on your chapter. (ex. a
fundraiser, crisis, revamped Candidate Program)
A web server for the benefit of the UC Bearcat Bands
and its’ supporting organizations was recently purchased and assembled by the
Upsilon Chapter. This is being used to
host websites for the following organizations: UC Bearcat Bands, UC Band Alumni
Association, Upsilon Chapter of KKY, Theta Chapter of TBS, and the Compendium of College Marching Bands. In the near future, it is expected that
Upsilon will also host local high school band’s websites as a service to these
organizations. The purchase of the
server has allowed for easy maintenance and expansion of our current
websites.
Please take one of the activities listed on the
previous page unique to your Chapter and explain in some detail what your
Chapter’s involvement is. (This should
also be read)
Jointly, the Upsilon chapter and our sister chapter
Theta, have spearheaded the Joint Ceremony Project for the District. The purpose of this is to provide those
schools which have a chapter of both KKY and TBS an opportunity to strengthen inter-organizational
relations through a Joint Ceremony.
Upsilon and Theta’s version of the ceremony was showcased at last year’s
District Convention. Since then, other
Chapters throughout the district have had an opportunity to share their
versions and ideas. All of this as been
compiled into a proposal which is being presented to the District this
weekend.
It has been
another successful year of growth, leadership, and service for the Upsilon
Chapter. The recent incorporation of 10
new members has provided the chapter with new ideas and outlets for service. The chapter looks forward to continual
service to our band, community, and Fraternity. Thank you.
In the Bond,
Nathan William Eisinger 3-30-2001
