SIGNIFICANT EVENTS
The second
ever Membership Education Retreat was hosted by our chapter this past fall. The
chance to host the event that played such an important factor in creating and
editing a strong Membership Education (both pre and post) was an honor for our
chapter. Working over the summer and into early fall, we reserved rooms and
created an on-line registration board.
Away from
our own campus, Beta Rho also traveled to far more chapters than ever before.
With members attending Summer FUNction, Leadership, all three blocks, two
Chapter Formals, multiple degrees and meetings, general visitation trips, and,
of course, District Convention, we managed to come in contact with eleven other
chapters of the NCD.
Recently,
several brothers along with other select members of the Varsity Band traveled
to New Jersey where they continued their support of our athletic teams after
our Women’s Basketball Team made it to the NCAA Tournament.
IMPORTANT

of Reactivation on Sunday, April 1st.
The Brothers of Beta Rho cordially invite the entire
district to attend our Second Annual Formal on Saturday April 28th
starting at 6pm. The Formal will include dinner, a possible speech by Dr. Brant Karrick, Sponsor and Director of
Bands at the University of Toledo, and dancing. Cost is only $27. Contact us at
beta_rho_ut@yahoo.com
if you are interested in attending.
The University of Toledo Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi
would also like to extend sincere thanks to Doug Morrin, Ryan Akers, Carolyn
Steckal, and Jill Reeder for their open doors, empty couches, and beneficial
speeches at our new Post Membership Dinners. Thanks to all of the District
Council for everything, and good luck to all who find themselves so lucky in
the next year.
In one paragraph (not to exceed one (1) minute when
read) discuss/address one significant event or occurrence which has had an
impact on your chapter. (ex. a fundraiser, crisis, revamped Candidate
Program)
After difficulties with past Membership Processes, it
was decidedly time to create a detailed, written program. The creation of a Post
Membership Process allowed the Big’s of the large Pi Class of the fall to be
better able to assist their Little Brother. The process by which a bandmember
first becomes a Prospective Member, and eventually an Active, was also
outlined. When setting up the Prospective Member Process, it was decided that
quizzes and tests are not enough to teach them what it means to be a Brother.
By the addition of events such as travel and family dinners, the 19 Brothers of
the Pi Class appear to be one of the strongest Beta Rho has ever seen.
Upon completing their classes in a timely eight weeks,
a Post Membership Process for the Spring was created to further the general
knowledge of the Actives. With Internet Games and Post Membership Dinners, our
chapter is now more interested in aspects of the Fraternity (and Sorority) that
make them better future officers and more active in the inner workings of the
organization.
Please take one of the activities listed on the
previous page unique to your Chapter and explain in some detail what your
Chapter’s involvement is. (This should
also be read)
New members
of the Rocket Marching Band were greeted their first day by anxious brothers of
Beta Rho, ready to lend a hand in moving into their dorms. The event is a
chance for new members to feel welcomed by their fellow bandsmen and a chance
for us to show them first hand what Kappa Kappa Psi is about. The parents of
the new members had received an order form for RMB Merchandise prior to Band
Camp. This provided their child with a welcome present that started their RMB
regalia collection. They were also given a flyer describing KKY to further
explain the group of strange people in Greek letters who helped them that day.
