In one paragraph (not to exceed one (1) minute when
read) discuss/address one significant event or occurrence which has had an
impact on your chapter. (ex. a fundraiser, crisis, revamped Candidate
Program)
With a chapter now topping off at 45 brothers and an
incoming prospective member class of 11, Alpha Zeta has experienced a degree of
growth that is unprecedented in the history of our chapter. Though this is more of a trend than an occurrence
or event, it still weighs significantly in the infrastructure of Alpha Zeta and
how we operate. We have today faced the
unique situation of having to ask the question “how big is too big?” and “what
do we have to do to make sure that are bond as brothers are as strong with
nearly 50 as they were at 25?” It is an
enviable position to be able to discuss size from the perspective of having so
many qualified and dedicated Brothers and PM’s however, at this size, we must
pay special attention to ensure that brotherhood remains strong.
Please take one of the activities listed on the
previous page unique to your Chapter and explain in some detail what your
Chapter’s involvement is. (This should
also be read)
Though this activity may seem less important than many
of the other efforts we have undertaken this year, the mailing of all of our
known living alumni has produced significant response. Our alumni database had been damaged over
previous years and through the efforts of Brooke Nelson we now have a
completely revamped alumni database.
However, many of the addresses were questionable since there had not
been a mailing in several years. This
past month, AZ addressed and added personal notes to more than 600 postcards
which were sent to the alumni at their most recent address. On that postcard we asked for address
servicing to identify faulty addresses.
In addition, we notified our alumni of activities that we have
undertaken and provided an email for them to respond to. Since this effort began, we have received
several emails from all different ages of alumni that we have been forwarding
to the chapter to read. This activity
has allowed Alpha Zeta not only to update its alumni database, but also to have
greater interaction with Brothers who may have graduated 5, 10, or 50 years earlier!
