S.P.A.M.--Special Project Assistance Monies
- This project is conducted jointly by the North Central
District Chapters of Kappa Kappa Psi
and Tau Beta Sigma.
- This grant is targeted for, but not limited to, smaller
chapters. The grant is to start a project,
or assist in the completion of an existing project that benefits the
entire band program and is outside the realm of administrative fiscal
responsibility.
- All chapters wishing to apply for the district funds should
complete the SPAM Financial
Needs Form (in Appendix D) and send copies to all the district officers,
the district
Governor(s) and the Tau Beta Sigma district Counselor(s).
- There is neither a minimum nor a maximum of awards each
year. The deadline for
submission is March 1. The maximum allotment is $600. Any excess money
from the
allotments after the deadline will be placed in a discretionary fund
which will be used by the
district officers as needed.
- The projects will be reviewed by a committee composed of a
quorum of the Tau Beta
Sigma district officers and a quorum of the Kappa Kappa Psi district
officers, according to
the following criteria:
- beneficial effect of the entire band program
- primary purpose of service to the band; not the chapter
- involvement of as many actives and prospective members as
possible
- Proposals will be considered in the order they are received.
All moneys will be allocated by
a decision of the aforementioned committee.
- Upon approval of the committee, a contract will be sent to
the applicant. This contract,
when signed, will bind the chapter to the project.
- A halfway point progress report summarizing the current
progress must be sent to both
district Secretary/Treasurers. At the following district convention,
recipients should present
a short, written overview of the completed project to each delegate.
(Photograph or visual
aid should be included if possible) This district should be able to see
how their moneys are
being spent by the use of the follow-up letter sent to the National
Officers, articles
submitted to the KADENZA and the chapter presentations given at district
convention.
- Each funded school must sign the SPAM contract. To be valid,
the North Central District
Governor(s) and Counselor(s), treasurers and chapter sponsor(s) must also
sign. This
form will be sent out 30 days (one month) after convention.
