Honoring Our Legacy

Tau Beta Sigma is working collaboratively to create a Memorial Rose Garden for our beloved Wava Banes Turner Henry. Our vision is to have a beautiful reflection garden and park that will honor Wava for many years to come and to be located at the National Headquarters in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

The plans will include a black granite pedestal dedicated to Wava, reflection benches, a rose garden and other garden flowers and shrubs, as well as a fence and sidewalk around the garden area. Materials chosen for the Wava Memorial are intended to last forever in our beautiful park so that students and alumni can celebrate our Founder and have a quiet, contemplative space during a HQ visit.

Also, this summer, the grand opening of the Kappa Kappa Psi Caboose will be celebrated. It is dedicated to the Brothers of Kappa Kappa Psi and made possible by the donation from the Wrights. Dedicated alumni, actives, and chapters also donated thousands of dollars to refurbish the caboose.

Following these events, there will be a catered BBQ dinner for registered guests. Don't miss out on this celebration of our legacy at our very own National Headquarters.

Brothers & Sisters,

As you know, preparation for the unveiling of the completed Wava Memorial Garden and the Kappa Kappa Psi Caboose is due to occur on July 26th. We are excited to see you and to share with you in this historic occasion in the life of our organizations!

This week we were alerted to a possible delaying factor in the production of the marble pieces for the Wava Memorial. Our material delivery is being slowed by its transport across the Pacific Ocean and its processing in the Port of Los Angeles. As you can imagine, this news has caused some concern that the memorial we've planned for over the last year may not be completed on time. Rest assured that the plans are completed, the orders went out on time, and the design company is standing by to complete this work on our behalf.

We are still hopeful that our materials will be delivered in enough time to allow the design company to complete our order and install everything by the 25th of July. If we discover that the finished project will not be ready for our planned event, we will update you as soon as possible.

Preparations for the dedication of the Kappa Kappa Psi Caboose are proceeding on schedule and all renovations and landscaping near the caboose should be completed in early July.

We wanted to include you in this information so that you would be aware of the potential change of plans so you were not negatively impacted upon your arrival in Stillwater by an unfinished project. While we would all wish to dedicate the finished project, our plans are to proceed in dedicating the Wava Memorial and KKPsi Caboose as planned on July 26th. We hope that you will still join us for this occasion! Any occasion that brings us all together to celebrate Wava and our organizations and to share time together is memorable and special; we look forward to having you join us!
