Community Service Projects
There are several projects you can do within your local community. *NOTE: Many of these lists are featured in our organizations' Guide to Memberships.*
- Host a workshop or activity for the area Girl scouts to earn their Music Badges
- Participate in Christmas in April or assist Habit for Humanity at some other point throughout the year with repairing and building houses for the underprivileged
- Adopt-a-Highway: commit the chapter to cleaning a 1-2 mile stretch of highway a couple times each semester
- Host a canned food drive
- Assist in a soup kitchen during the holidays
- Play Christmas music for nursing homes, children's hospitals, mentally ill, or Salvation Army Bell Ringers
- Participate in the Big Brother/ Big Sister Program
- Assist the Make a Wish Foundation in making a hurting child's dream come true
- Put a small band together for a community parade
- Co host a Charity Celebrity Auction with the local Aids Foundation or another nonprofit organization
- Advertise for school events
- Recycle cans
- Put together a pep band for small high school football games
- Red Cross blood drive
- Offer scholarships to graduating high school band members
- Rake leaves
- Ushering for graduation
- Visit a hospital to play with the children
- Host a Christmas party for needy children
- Donate items to a Battered Women's Shelter
- Phone-a-thon
- Toys for Tots
- Write to military personnel
- Give low cost lessons
