1. Kappa Kappa Psi Announces New Governors!

by Dr. Rod Chesnutt, KKPsi National President

Greetings!

I am pleased to announce new Governors in the Midwest and West Districts.

First, many thanks to Dr. Lisa Hunter for her work in the Midwest District. She has moved to New York as the Head of Music Education at Buffalo State. This is a terrific career move for her and we wish her the best!

Next, Dr. Patrick Carney left his position as the Assistant Director of Bands at the University of Oregon to assume the Director of Bands role at Montana State University [yes, Dr. Hunter's position]. So, he must resign his Co-Governor's position in the Western District, but has agreed to continue serving the fraternity as the new Co-Governor in the Midwest District. His contact information is as follows:

Dr. Patrick K. Carney

Director of The Spirit of the West Marching Band

Third, we are pleased to announce that Professor Chris Chapman has agreed to serve in the Western District as Co-Governor. A graduate of the University of Washington, he is currently the Director of Bands at Oregon State University. You may contact him at the following:

2. Announcing the New KKPsi Colony Tracking Program On-Line
by Malinda Matney, Ph.D., National Vice President for Colonization and Membership

At the 2005 National Convention, our Active Membership requested that we find a way to create a website for submission and review of colony documents and progress. Today we announce the opening of our Kappa Kappa Psi Colony Tracking Website.

This site has multiple goals:

  1. Giving colonies, advising chapters, and advising people one place to send reports and documents for review and archival.
  2. Allowing the National Council, Headquarters, and Colony Teams the ability to read documents and provide comments in a timely fashion, storing these comments for archival use.
  3. Providing our National Chapter (all of our Active Brothers) the ability to see our recent colony activity. The entire National Chapter can join in support of our newest chapters in their first months and years of operation.

Derrick Mills has been instrumental in bringing this to completion -- his commitment to this project, particularly the technical issues, has advanced our web presence greatly. Ken Corbett has also contributed substantially to the site, and has been helpful in the organization of content. These Brothers have done great work to advance the wishes of our students. Thanks, Derrick and Ken!

With any new endeavor, we know we'll continue to learn and find ways to improve the site as you all use it. If you have suggestions or detect glitches, email me with those items.

The first major test of the site will be this week. We strongly urge all colonies, advising chapters, and advising people to complete
their reports using the web this time. Both what you report and the fact that you are reporting it on the web will help us strengthen the site. We will give each colony team its username and password over the next three days, so you'll be able to use the restricted parts of this site.

Connect to this site from our main site at http://www.kkpsi.org, or connect directly at:
http://www.kkytbs.org/online/fused/index.cfm?fuseaction=Colony.ColonyInformation

We're continuing to Strive for the Highest, and look forward to this new way to improve our work with colonies and their advising teams.
