1. Kappa Kappa Psi Approves Two New Colonies
Kappa Kappa Psi recently received two new colony applications from McKendree College in Lebanon, Illinois and San Jose State University from San Jose, California.
McKendree College is a private, four-year college with an enrollment of about 1,500. Their ensembles include a 65 member marching band, 45 piece concert band, 35 member wind ensemble, 25 piece jazz band, and 60 member basketball band.

San Jose State University is a public, four-year university with an enrollment of over 30,000 students. Their initial colony application included 13 Colony Members and four Honorary Members!

2. Tau Beta Sigma Announces New Colony
Tau Beta Sigma recently established a new colony at Pima Community College in Tucson, Arizona. PCC is a public, two year college with an enrollment of about 7,600 students. Their ensembles include a 35 member Concert Band and an 18 piece Jazz Band.

3. Tau Beta Sigma Selects New Counselors for NED & NCD!!
Tau Beta Sigma is pleased to introduce two new counselors for our organization.
Kathryn Kelly has recently been appointed as NED counselor succeeding Cathy Miles. Kathryn is a past NED officer from Howard University. Kathryn can be reached at nedcoun@tbsigma.org
Kathryn Garrett Kelly was initiated into the Eta Delta Chapter of Tau Beta Sigma at Howard University in April of 1998. During undergrad, Kathryn played Clarinet and Baritone Horn in the Howard University “Showtime” Marching Band and Bassoon in the Concert Band. On the Chapter level, Kathryn has held numerous positions including, Chapter President, Chapter Parliamentarian, and Chapter Vice President of Membership. On the District level, Kathryn served as Northeast District Treasurer and District President. After graduation she continued her service to Tau Beta Sigma as the NEDAA Vice President for TBS for 5 years.
She received a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology in 2001 from Howard and worked towards her Masters in Education at City College of New York while teaching High School science in the Bronx, New York from 2001-2003. At present, Kathryn is a third year Medical Student at Howard University in Washington, DC and is scheduled to graduate with her MD in May 2007. She plans to specialize in Internal Medicine and practice in Primary Care with a focus on Preventive Care in underserved areas.
Kathryn is married to Jackie Kelly, Jr., a lobbyist for the American Trucking Association in Washington, DC. Jackie was initiate into the brotherhood of the Eta Omega Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi in the Spring of 1998 and was also a member of the Howard University Band where he played percussion. Kathryn, Jackie and their daughter, Ajzha Briana, who is eleven, reside in Alexandria, Virginia.
The NCD also has a new counselor appointed this weekend, Carolyn Steckel. Carolyn is from BGSU and is a past CFR along with being a past NCD officer. She can be reached at steckel@tbsigma.org
Carolyn Steckel is a 2001 graduate of Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, OH where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Popular Culture. She was inducted into the Alpha Xi chapter of Tau Beta Sigma at Bowling Green in 1997 and went on to serve a chapter and district officer. Carolyn has also served as the National Chapter Field Representative for Tau Beta Sigma as well as the Membership Services Coordinator at the National Headquarters office. Carolyn is finishing up her Master of Science degree in Leisure Studies from Oklahoma State University and will be moving to the Chicago area to pursue a career in Therapeutic Recreation.

4. KKPsi Installs New Chapter

On behalf of the Kappa Kappa Psi National Council, it is a distinct pleasure to announce the installation of the Lambda Omicron Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi, Chapter # 279 at Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia. The Installation took place Saturday, 25 March 2006 in Southeast District Convention in Greenville, South Carolina.
Attending the Installation were members of several chapters of the Southeast District. In addition, several National representatives were in attendance and assisted in the ceremony, including Dr. Rod Chesnutt, National President; Derrick Mills, National Vice President for Programs; Ken Corbett and Scott Stowell, National Board of Trustees; Jen Murdock, Chapter Field Representative Designate; and Dr. David O'Shields and Michael Green, Southeast District Governors.
Thanks to the Delta Iota Chapter of Florida A&M University and the Gamma Nu Chapter of Florida State University for serving as the advising chapters, and Chris Haughee for serving as the advising person for Lambda Omicron. All helped shape this exciting new addition to our National Brotherhood.
Lambda Omicron is the second Kappa Kappa Psi chapter to be installed in the 2005-2007 Biennium.

5. KKPsi & TBS Support Conn-Selmer University for 2006
Brothers & Sisters, for several years, we have partnered with Conn-Selmer University by providing our members with the opportunity to apply for travel scholarships to participate in an exceptional music educational program, hosted by our good friend and colleague, Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser! Both KKPsi & TBS will provide two $200 travel scholarships to our members who are accepted into the program. Specific details for applying for our travel scholarships will be provided on request to the National Executive Director at hqned@kkytbs.org.
