2. KKPsi Governor Review
by Dr. Rod Chesnutt, KKPsi National President
It occurred to me that it would be good to introduce, or re-introduce, the
district governors as there have been a good number of changes.
Northeast District - Marie Burleigh returns as one of our governors. She
continues with her current position at West Virginia University-Jackson’s Mill.
Professor Kelvin Washington is the new co-governor in the Northeast District.
He currently serves as the Associate Director of University Bands at Howard
University.
Southeast District - we have two new governors. Dr. David O’Shields is
the Associate Director of Bands at the University of South Carolina, and Mike
Green is the Information Technology Coordinator and Interim Inventory and Property
Control Manager for the Department of Housing and Residence Life at Mississippi
State University.
North Central District - The NED has two new governors. Professor Christine
Beason is the chair of Music Education at Quincy College and Rod Whiteman is
the Director of Choral Activities at Bedford-North Lawrence High School in
Bedford, Indiana.
Southwest District - Danny George returns for another biennium of service
and is a Senior Accountant for Renal Care Group. Dr. David Scott, Director
of Bands and Department Chair at Angelo State University, joins him as co-governor.
He was on the Council of the old District 6.
Midwest District - The MWD has two new governors. Denali Alt is the Vocal
Music Director at West Platte High School in Weston, Missouri (KC Metro area).
Dr. Lisa Hunter is the Director of Bands at Montana State University.
Western District - Tanya Marsh continues as governor having served since
this past spring. She is an Area Department Supervisor for the major drug-retail
company, Walgreens and supervises over 80 stores and 240 employees in the greater
Phoenix Area. Dr. Patrick Carney has agreed to serve as co-governor replacing
Don Hower. Dr. Carney is the Director of Athletic Bands at the University of
Oregon.
It should be noted that new governors Rod Whiteman, Denali Alt, Tanya Marsh
and Mike Green were all district officers and were all recipients of the J.
Lee Burke Award. I am excited about this governor corps as they represent a
wealth of professional and fraternal experience. You can find their contact
information on our website at www.kkpsi.org/districtgovernors.asp, and I hope
you will join me in thanking them for offering that experience, their talents
and their time to our fraternity.
